Maintaining currency through continuing education and IC evaluation is required to keep the Blue Card certificate valid for the full 3-year term. Ongoing CE hours ensure you stay up-to-date with incident command practices, safety procedures, and evolving protocols. The IC evaluation provides a hands-on check of your ability to apply those concepts under real or simulated conditions. Together, these ongoing requirements keep your skills current and your certification active over the entire term, rather than relying on a one-time training or only an annual renewal. If either CE hours or the IC evaluation aren’t kept up, the credential can lapse before the end of the 3 years.
